BENEFITS OF YOGA · Offering Yoga asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing) helps children to reduce anxiety, relax, concentrate, and focus, while building listening skills, physical strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility, as well as elongating the spine - promoting good posture. Additionally, many studies support that offering yoga reduces high blood pressure and improves digestion, elimination of toxins, circulation, and sleeping patterns,. · Yoga practice teaches children about their bodies in a fun manner, through lessons, songs, and asanas (poses/stretching exercises), stories, and sharing opportunities. They learn to appreciate and honor their bodies and minds with peace, relaxation, and healthy living practices. · Yoga classes give children a break from a competitive life (and the negative long-term effects) and gives the children the opportunity to simply be, learning to focus on themselves and the feelings within themselves and working through these feelings without comparing themselves to others.

Yoga Classes |

Classes for children are scheduled in 8-12 week sessions. Only five children attend classes at a time to allow for comfort in our space and individual attention. Classes are set up based on ages and are usually a mix of boys and girls. |

Classes for Children ages 3-12 |

Teen classes are scheduled in 8-12 week sessions, with five teens per class. Additionally, we offer parent/child classes. Currently running is a teen mother/daughter class. Some teens elect to sign up with teammates for sport related stretching, visualization, focusing, and balance. |

Located just over the bridge, alongside the stream and surrounded by beautiful shade trees, the “caretakers quarters” was determined to be the best location for a small yoga studio at Soulshine Farm...named the “yoga house” or “little house” by the first classes of children. It is a most peaceful space, perfect for small classes and personal attention. Parents are welcome to bring a book, or simply sit and relax in the garden or on any of the benches placed throughout the property while children are in class. Some parents take the opportunity to run errands at the local shopping areas. |

Classes for Children with Special Needs: As a certified special education teacher, as well as yoga instructor, I openly welcome children with special needs to sign up for our yoga classes. Because there are never more than five children per class, I have not yet felt the need to form separate classes for children with special needs...they are doing beautifully in our small classes with their peers! If you have any special concerns please contact me.
